Research book
This book was recommended by my bead weaving teacher. It is a good book to use to research how to do various bead weaving stitches. There are pictures and diagrams on how to do the most common of bead stitches. There are project patterns to help learn the bead stitch.

informative book
This book is one of the best beading books I have seen. It teaches several different stitches in precise, detailed, and easy to follow directions. It also has very beautiful projects to do that allow you to practice what you have learned. I have already learned a great deal by using this book, and I have just started to work through the material. It is a very informative book, for use by beaders of all levels. The projects alone make this book worth the money.

Great reference book for all things beadweaving!
This is really great book on beading and different from most of the books out there. Honestly, I will probably make only one or two of the projects listed as most of them are just not things I would ever want to make. Having said that.. this is the one book you will reference often throughout years. It has clear instructions for all the the stitches plus hard to find instructions for things like increasing and decreasing for all the various stitches and how to transition smoothly from one stitch to another. The pictures and instructions are very clear and easy to understand. It also discuses things like tension, etc and how this can vary depending on what you are making and whether the beadwork should be stiff or supple. Anyone looking for a great beading ‘reference’ should have this book in their collection.Whenever I have a project that uses a new stitch this is the book I grab for stitch instructions. Always clear and concise.

2nd Best Beading Book
I’ve only found 1 other bead weaving book as good as this one and it’s also by Carol Wilcox Wells, “The Art and Elegance of Beadweaving”. This one has great diagrams, guidance on what beads and colors to use, and a beautiful gallery of projects to do and ones to be inspired by. It is also a great buy in paperback. My advice is buy both of her books.

Very few practical items I want to make.
Mostly things I would never make. Gives basic stitch instructions and variations. Pictures are of purses, basket tops, baskets, nude angel, some jewelry, jar covers, figurines, collars, sculptures, vegetables, etc made out of beads. Would have liked practical items. Just not my cup of tea.

Artsy fartsy type projects
If beaded naked (pubic hair and all) angels are your taste you are in for a treat with this book. Very much geared towards the “arty” type people. I guess I’m not in that group. I’m not offened by what’s presented just not my taste. It does however have a couple more mainstream projects that I liked so for the money it wasn’t a waste. If I had paid full price I don’t think I would have been very happy.

LOVE IT!!!
I love this book! The directions were very easy to follow. Some of the art in the book is different but you can take the bead weaving and put your own twist on it. All in all the book is one of my favorite and i have six. 🙂 I think this book would be good if you know the basics of beading or are looking for more advanced beading. Have fun and bead on!

This is a fantastic book! I bought this as a replacement, so I already knew I loved it. It has amazing pictures and excellent, clear instructions with large, simple illustrations. It covers Peyote, Brick, Square, Right-Angle Weave, African Helix, Netting and Chevron Chain stitches, and clear instructions on combining stitches. There are also projects with instructions to get you going. The pictures are beautiful and inspirational, and show an amazing range on projects, from the practical and expected (bracelets, earrings and purses) to the some crazy modern art pieces by a range of bead artists, to show case the possibilities available and inspire your creative potential. If you are wanting to learn about bead weaving, I would highly recommend this book. With this book, I am sure anyone could master bead weaving and be making their own beautiful creations in no time. That’s how it was for me, anyway. Enjoy!
